Is web design still in demand?

Quick answer: Useful digital work continues as the tools change. A current U.S. forecast projects employment growth, and it also says better tools and AI may soften that growth. The forecast is context. It is not a Dallas job listing, a salary, or a promise for any one person or business.

If you are learning the field, the practical question is which tasks you can build, explain, and check. If you own a business, the practical question is which customer task still needs a clear, working digital experience. Those questions are related. They are not the same measurement. InterGlobal is a design and development studio. This article is not a training course, and it does not place people in jobs.

What's in this article?

The work evolves. Build, design, and improve useful digital experiences.

The poster, in motion

The square below plays once when it comes into view and pauses when it leaves the screen. Replay runs it again. If you prefer less motion, the finished poster stays in place and both links still work. The globe is one still picture. It is a visual metaphor for connected work, not a chart and not a count of jobs.

Read the national forecast narrowly

Checked on October 12, 2026, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 5 percent growth in combined employment of web developers and digital designers from 2025 to 2035. The separate projections on that page are 4 percent for web developers and 6 percent for web and digital interface designers. BLS points to expanding online commerce as a source of demand. It also says improved development tools and AI may soften employment growth, because productivity can rise and other workers may handle basic development tasks. BLS: Web Developers and Digital Designers.

These are national forecasts over a decade. They are not a count of open jobs in Dallas today, a wage, a client pipeline, or the result of one person's search. The page describes a changing mix of work, and forecasts include uncertainty. Use the numbers only for that national context.

Separate the work from the title

A website can involve organizing information, designing an interface people can use, building functions, and keeping the experience current. One person may cover several of those responsibilities. A larger assignment may need more than one person. Ask which work the project actually needs instead of treating a job title as the whole answer.

For a business, start with a customer task. A visitor might need to understand a service, compare an offer, or send a useful inquiry. Name the information and the functions that route requires. An unfinished task is a concrete project. A general trend is not.

For someone learning, choose a small task you can build and explain. Show how the information is organized, how the layout holds real content, and how the main route behaves. That is practice. It does not promise employment, and this studio does not run a career program.

Build the function

Implementation matters when a page needs navigation, a form, a content update, or a connection to another service. Define the behavior you expect, then try it with information you control. Record what happens. An attractive screen is not the same as a finished function.

Learning to find a problem and check a change is part of useful work. Keep a note of the task, the issue, the change, and the result. A clear explanation helps someone else review what you did.

On a business assignment, make the responsibilities visible. Who supplies the content, who builds the functions, and who confirms the agreed result? A newer tool does not remove those questions.

Design the information

Design is a set of decisions about what people need to understand and how they move through it. Review the order of the page, the labels, the phone layout, and the link between the content and the action.

Explain a decision in terms of the task. If the service area matters to the inquiry, put that fact where the visitor needs it. If an action changes what happens next, label it so the purpose is clear. Use real business facts and proof you have permission to share.

When you look at a practice project, go past the opening view. Follow the route with actual content and ask what the person decided. A polished image and a considered experience are not the same thing.

Improve what changes

Business facts and services change. Content, contact routes, and connected tools need an owner. Decide what gets reviewed after launch and who handles a problem when one appears.

A useful improvement starts with something you observed. A phone visitor may not find a service detail. An inquiry may not produce the expected result. A page may still show old information. Write the issue, agree on the next action, and check the route after the change.

That continuing work should have its own scope. Say whether it is part of the current arrangement or a later assignment. The launch does not describe every future responsibility.

Use tools with a review

Tools can change how a version is prepared and how quickly the next version appears. Keep the review tied to the output. Read the business information that was supplied, try the functions, and name who owns the unfinished work.

If you are building skills, practice saying what a tool helped you prepare and what you personally checked or changed. A generated version does not prove a skill you have not shown. Keep learning around tasks you can repeat and discuss.

If you own the business, choose a toolset that fits the assignment and the way you will operate the site. Decide how access, updates, and later support will work. The aim is an experience the business can keep useful.

Write the next task

If you are learning, define a small project with an audience, a task, and a way to review it. Build it, check it, and explain the decisions. Pick the next skill from a problem you actually met.

If you own a Dallas business, list the customer routes that work and the ones that need attention. Use the empty sheet below. Leave every cell blank until you have looked. Do not turn a national forecast into a reason by itself.

The sheet is a way to talk about design, implementation, or improvement. It is not a hiring test, a salary guide, or proof that a project will succeed.

Plan your next digital project

Bring the customer task and the work you want to discuss. InterGlobal can help define the design and implementation steps for creating or improving a digital experience. This conversation does not guarantee a job, a client result, or a place in a national forecast.

Build skills. Keep improving. Bring one customer task and the work it still needs.

Key takeaways

  • BLS projects 5 percent combined U.S. employment growth for web developers and digital designers from 2025 to 2035, with separate 4 percent and 6 percent figures.
  • The same page says online commerce supports demand, while tools and AI may soften employment growth.
  • Those figures are national forecasts. They are not Dallas openings, wages, or a personal outcome.
  • Judge the work by the customer task: build the function, design the information, and improve what changes.

Questions people ask

Is web design still in demand?

The current BLS outlook projects growth in web development and digital design employment from 2025 to 2035, and it also says tools and AI may soften that growth. That is a national forecast, not a guarantee of a job or a client.

What do the separate percentages mean?

On the page checked October 12, 2026, BLS projects 4 percent growth for web developers and 6 percent for web and digital interface designers. The combined figure for both groups is 5 percent. These are U.S. projections, not current local vacancies.

Does a new tool replace the work?

Tools can speed up a version. Someone still has to define the task, check the result, and keep the business information current. A generated screen is not the same as a reviewed route.

What does Plan your next digital project do?

It opens the booking section at https://intrglobal.com/#book so a business can talk about a digital project. www.intrglobal.com opens the studio site. InterGlobal is not offering career training or job placement through this article.
