Gas at $4.48 and a Quieter Saturday: How a DFW Service Business Still Gets Found
Regular gas in the United States is about $4.48 a gallon. On-highway diesel was $6.53 in the Energy Information Administration survey for the week of September 21, 2026, about $2.78 above a year earlier. The Strait of Hormuz is still the reason the fuel market is this tight, and talks to reopen it are stalled. A Dallas plumber, cleaner, or clinic does not need a foreign-policy blog. They need a way to be chosen when the customer drives less and thinks longer.
Quick answer: Fewer casual miles means fewer “we were in the neighborhood” visits. The jobs that still happen start on a phone: a map pack, an AI answer, or a texted recommendation. Be the specific result for your service and your city, and make the next step a call or a form, not a drive-by.
- Gas near $4.48 and diesel near $6.53 are this week’s prices, not a seasonal blip.
- Customers compare on the phone before they burn a gallon to “come see.”
- Google Business Profile, a quotable service page, and a working phone path beat a new billboard.
What a quieter Saturday actually changes
Drive-by demand is the first thing that thins out. The emergency job does not. A leaking water heater still gets called. A date-night dinner might not. The businesses that feel this first are the ones that lived on impulse visits: retail on a busy road, a studio that counted on people “stopping in,” a restaurant that needed the patio to look full from the street.
The businesses that hold up are the ones already named when someone searches “near me” from the couch. That search is more valuable this month because the customer is trying not to waste the trip.
Be the answer before they get in the car
Three surfaces decide the trip.
- The map. Right category, real hours, recent photos, and the services you actually sell. A profile that says “open” when you are not wastes the gallon they were willing to spend.
- The expanded answer. Some AI Overviews now open themselves into a long brief. If your name is not in it, you are under the text they already treated as the result.
- The page they text to a spouse. One URL that says what you do, where, and how to book. If that link is a homepage carousel, they do not forward it.
Spanish-speaking households in DFW do this in Spanish. If your page and your profile are English-only, you are absent from half the comparison.
Spend where the trip starts
Fuel surcharges are already in your supplier invoices. Matching that with a bigger awareness campaign is how margins disappear twice. Put the month’s marketing money on the pages and the profile that capture intent you do not have to invent.
Paid ads still have a job for urgent categories. Judge them on calls and forms you can see. iOS made the dashboard quieter than the phone. If the phone is ringing and the ads report looks broken, trust the phone and fix the tracking, do not pause a campaign that is feeding the week.
A week of work, not a rebrand
- Fix the Google Business Profile: categories, hours, services, and a photo from this month.
- Rewrite the top service page so the first two sentences name the trade, the city, and how to start.
- Put a click-to-call and a short form on that page. Save every lead where you can find it next Tuesday.
- Ask the last ten customers how they found you. If the answer is “drove by,” you are exposed. If it is “Google” or “my sister sent a link,” protect that path.
DFW is still adding headquarters and deal volume. That does not fill a service company’s Saturday by itself. Being findable when people stay home does. InterGlobal builds the page and the profile path for that.
Need the phone to ring when the drive-by stops?
We will tighten the profile, the service page, and the way the lead is saved.
